The Lord-Lieutenant provides an important representative link between the armed forces and the local community. With a role to play in supporting the regulars, reserves and cadets within the military in Aberdeenshire, the Lord-Lieutenant also helps to raise awareness of the benefits and skills gained through part-time military service.
Meanwhile, the Lord-Lieutenant supports the county’s various cadet units – the Army Cadet Forces, Air Training Corps and Sea Cadets. Each year the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, on the advice of The Highland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association, appoints up to three Cadets from the Army, Air and Sea Cadets across the county to help him perform his duties.
